Think that making quick spaghetti involves boiling water and heating up some canned sauce? Think again.
Making homemade spaghetti sauce is both simple and quick. Start by browning a pound of ground beef. Drain any excess grease, then add a can of diced tomatoes and a little seasoning. I like to use garlic powder, rosemary and basil. Mix in a small can of tomato paste and one paste can full of water and let simmer for a few minutes. Lastly, add about a tablespoon of sugar. Simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, to allow flavors to blend together.
Start boiling the water for pasta once the meat has browned, and you should be ready to eat within 20 minutes. Probably more time than it would take to heat up canned sauce, but definitely worth the flavor improvement.
